Georgia Picture Storybook Awards
Each year, a committee of teachers and librarians, headed by the University of Georgia Department of Language and Literacy Education, chooses 20 books as nominees for the Georgia Children’s Picture Book Award. Elementary school children are encouraged to read as many of the books as possible (minimum of 10) and vote on their favorite. Media Specialists at each school then report the results to the committee. The committee then totals the votes received from all participating schools determining a winner. Often the author and illustrator of the winning book are featured speakers at the annual Conference on Children’s Literature.
Voting at JES will take place will take place in the Spring. Students will have the opportunity to vote using this book list (with at least 10 books read) as a ballot.
